UARS MLS V5 Data Inspection Summary

The following table gives access to comments and statistics of interest to potential users of UARS MLS atmospheric data. The information is arranged by UARS month, roughly every 35 days, with MLS either viewing mostly north (N) or south (S). Table Usage:

Table Legend (meaning of grades):

A:  The number of useful profiles is greater than about 30,000 for these UARS
    months (out of roughly 40,000 to 50,000, typically possible), and no
    significant anomalies (in operations or retrieved data quality) are worth
    noting.

B:  The number of useful profiles is between about 1000 and 30,000 for
    these UARS months and/or there are significant events affecting the data
    amount or quality (see comments under each grade for more details).

b:  Same as B, except that for these UARS months, the MLS instrument was
    operating under "radiometer 2 only" conditions (no more band 1 retrievals
    of temperature and tangent pressure).

c:  "Radiometer 2 only" conditions (see b), but with only about 100 to 1000
    useful profiles for these UARS months.

d:  "Radiometer 2 only" conditions (see b), but with less than 100 useful
    profiles (i.e. very little data) for these UARS months.

N:  No useful data were obtained for these UARS months.
