UARS MLS
ClO V4 Data Inspection

This page summarizes results from the MLS team's inspection of the Version 4 (V4) ClO data.

The table below gives, by UARS month, any potential problems in the v4 algorithms which have been identified. Clicking on the UARS month in the table brings up more details on the information for that month, including the record numbers, etc., at which V4-V3 anomalies have been detected and a brief description of the anomaly.

The anomalies were detected by inspection of Vince Perun's monthly difference plots for data before month 96_06, and inspection of Vince's daily difference plots for data starting with month 96_06. The first column in the detailed tables for each month gives the "label" for the anomaly which has been handwritten on hardcopy of Vince's plots kept in a binder maintained by Chris Smallcomb and Joe Waters. That binder also contains detailed plots of each identified anomaly. In the majority of cases, anomalies between V4 and V3 have been due to problems in the V3 ClO which has been fixed by V4.

We anticipate adding to this page additional information, as it arises, on the quality of the V4 ClO data and algorithms. Any comments on the results, or method of documentation, are appreciated; please give these to Joe or Chris.

NOTE: Widen your Netscape screen when you view the tables as it is easier to look at.
