UARS MLS Seasonal Mean GW Variances
in June-August
UARS MLS observed Antarctic winter stratospheric gravity wave variances, at altitudes ~28,
33, 38, 43, 48, 53, 61, and 80 km (channels 1-8). The 4-point MLS limb-scan data averaged
on 10 degree by 5 degree longitude-latitude grids during June-July-August of 1991-1994
are used to make this map. The instrument noise has been removed and no data are at latitudes
higher than 80N/80S.
